Kalai Photography was founded by Shane Kalai, a freelance documentary photojournalist and videographer from Kauai, Hawaii. He has been involved in photography, design and digital media since 1996 and has more recently dedicated himself to the art of storytelling through film. Over the past 10 years he has traveled extensively in efforts to immerse himself in the beautiful diversity of culture in locations such as China, Tibet, Thailand, South Africa, Malawi, Haiti, and much of Europe. His experience with the camera in these vastly different cultures has granted him exceptional skill in “capturing the moment” while at the same time, respecting and honoring the people he is with.
Kalai Photography is dedicated to producing photos, film and stories that will actively bring love to those in desperate need across the globe, as well as encourage others to do the same. We believe strongly in the power of testimony and that storytelling is a deeply rooted and integral part of all cultures and societies and we want share real stories from around the world in efforts to raise awareness of issues and inspire us all to give tangible love and compassion to those who need it most.
